This book has been designed to provide and understanding of the fundamental principles of electrical engineering circuits and a familiarity with the view point and terminology of electrical engineers: the aim of the text has been to employ modern approaches and interesting applications in developing mastery of important principles in circuit analysis. It provides an understanding of the fundamental principles of electrical engineering circuits. It is written in simple electrical terminology. It contains several worked examples to illustrate how to solve basic electrical engineering problems. Some simple questions and their solutions are presented for each chapter at the end of the text. The author presumes that the students are already familiar with electrical terminology as such, there is no separate chapter for introduction. Some of the basic units and definitions are presented in chapter one before the main theme of the chapter.Chapter one of deals with the analysis of linear electric networks with constant voltages and current sources using basic circuit laws and theorems. Chapter two contains the fundamental circuit responses to A.C. Sources.Chapter three presents classical analogue network theorem, Phasor notations series and parallel circuits and theresonance phenomena. Chapter four presents transient processes in linear networks. The classical method which involves the use of linear differential equations is presented. Because of the importance of transient processes in linear electrical network and automatic control systems a lot of worked examples is presented at the end of this chapter. Chapter 5 deals with Laplace transform method of analysis with work examples while chapter six deals with state variable methods of analysis. This volume is the first of the series of volumes which will be published in the next couple of years. The next volume will deal with modern methods of electrical circuit analysis covering transform and state variable concepts and their correlation with the view point and other topics in circuit theory.
